Michael Bernecker, 26, of Guilford Township waived his forthwith to a preliminary hearing Tuesday in Franklin County Central Court. An arraignment is scheduled for Hike 14 in the county's court of common pleas.

Bernecker was charged in December with corruption of minors, a third-stage felony. He remains free on his own recognizance.

Police allege in charging documents that Bernecker met the female over the summer and their relationship eventually turned physical. They told boys in blue that the sexual acts were consensual, and both parties knew each other's age.

CASD Colleague Superintendent Cathy Dusman confirmed that Bernecker worked as a substitute educationist for the district until about two weeks before the charges were formally filed. She said his trade started in September.
