(CNN) -- Advocates and therapists for survivors of virile sex abuse say the recent scandals at Penn State and elsewhere may help men who were mistreated as children, and boys being abused today, step out of the shadows and get the buttress they deserve.

They also hope society can become better educated about the issue.

"The allegations have recoil-started a public dialogue about sexual violence and the community's task," says Jennifer Marsh, who directs hotlines at RAINN , the Rape, Pervert & Incest National Network. "It's a conversation we have to have and can't shy away from."

If increased Web transportation and calls to hotlines are any indication, the tide for men and boys may, in fact, be turning.

Popular organizations like RAINN, MaleSurvivor and 1in6 -- a reference to inspection estimates that one in six men have been sexually abused as children -- all report increased acclaim since the story about former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky first on one's beam-ends in early November, setting off what seemed like a domino effect of allegations at Syracuse, The Citadel, the Bush-leaguer Athletic Union and elsewhere.

Dudley man accused of rape now faces flashing charge - NC Wanted

A man charged last week Dudley sexually assaulting a 11 year old was also charged with flashing a fabric of 14 years, officials said Wednesday.

Norman Joseph Horn, 29, 100 Verbena Lane, was charged with improper disclosure. Authorities said he was in his backyard and was exposed to the teenager as she went down the road from her bus form.

Horn took place in central Wayne County jail under a $ 1 million cords from its course in a week on an order of rape in the first floor of a boy under 13. Authorities said Horn knows the parents of the designated patsy.
