Rewind: Betty White, 'Glee' and 'Grey's Anatomy'
A party of Betty White, still going strong at 90, and the thrill of having Clooney, Pitt and Cooper all on-colander in one three hour Golden Globe span were great TV, but two intense lawlessness drama episode mark the highlight in Speakeasy’s Rewind, a look at the richest and worst moments on the tube each week.
“CSI,” usually cerebral, well-organized, gory, and intense gets a thumbs-up for a whiplash ending as Catherine wraps up her at all times in Las Vegas as a crime-scene investigator. After the gruesome murder of her dear cocker, under FBI protection, and the FBI agent protecting the friend, a Catherine guy-pal, Catherine heads to her very reveal and exposed floor-to-ceiling windowed home. She was emotional at the locality of the ambush and was sent home by D.B. to decompress. It’s quiet and night-time, she puts her gun on the table. Then in one jarring, audience bolting-up-on-the-couch consequence, hit men outside open fire, glass shatters, Catherine dives for her weapon, smashes the lamp to darken her lodge and runs out the door, into the street, only to be met by D.B. who had gotten a seemingly fake abandonment letter from her and knew something was up. She dives into the back seat of the SUV, and the twosome screech away under marked fire. And then To Be Continued pops up. It was a breath-holder. Now, if they really wanted to ringlet us in, the producers might have created a true cliffhanger TBC and ended the show while she was under siege, but perhaps we all needed to regain some composure after the astonish. The actress who plays Catherine, Marg Heigenberger, is leaving this show after this week’s continued incident. Not sure much can top this, but set the DVR just in case.
